PORCELAIN VENEERS
Porcelain veneers
are wafer-thin shells of porcelain which are bonded onto the
front side of the teeth to make a cosmetic improvement in
their appearance. Porcelain veneers are indicated for teeth
that are discoloured, worn, chipped, or misaligned.
Before:
This young patient
was born without upper lateral incisors. Orthodontic treatment
moved all the posterior teeth foward so that the eye teeth
(cuspids) occupied the place of the missing laterals. This
resulted in small spaces between the teeth and oddly shaped
teeth.
After:
By placing porcelain
veneers on the front 4 teeth, the eye teeth now look like
laterals. A pleasing smile has been obtained, and all spaces
between the teeth have been filled. The teeth have also been
lightened by the porcelain veneers.
